November’s season fair will feature exclusive products from the Tohoku region, Japan. Visit Tokyo Central and Marukai at our participating store locations on the following days (**see schedule below**) and you can get a chance to taste local Tohoku products!
Tohoku Region is located in the far north of the main Honshu island in Japan. The six prefectures; Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi, and Yamagata, are home to a culinary heritage intimately bound with the region’s climates.
Yamagata and Akita prefectures located on the Sea of Japan coast are well known for their heavy snowfall in winter. The large difference in temperature between day and night in summer makes it possible to grow delicious harvests.
On the Pacific Ocean side, from the south, Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate Prefectures are well known for their abundance of delicious seafood. The mountain and inland areas are actively engaged in agriculture and delicious local specialties are made from ingredients unique to the area.
Aomori Prefecture is located at the northern tip of mainland Japan and has a cool climate. It is the top producer of apples in Japan, and aquaculture and fishing are also popular because the area is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
**Please note: Schedule may be subject to changes. We recommend checking our schedule before visiting for the latest updates.**
From Thursday, 11/10 to Wednesday, 12/7, you can explore the specially curated selection of products from the Tohoku region.
